Discover Carbonless Printing For Your Business

By Kate McMahon

There has always been a need for carbon copies of several different types of documents that are either handwritten or mechanically generated. The old way was to insert a piece of carbon paper in between the pages resulting to a carbon copy. Using carbon paper is tedious and sometimes difficult as the carbon paper may get displaced and result to not generating a copy. The solution to this problem is through carbonless printing.

This sort of paper is known commonly in the printing industry as NCR or No Carbon Required paper. It is the easiest way to generate carbon copies of a form without the hassle of using carbon paper. This is particularly helpful for business forms like receipts, invoices, or any form that need carbon copies. NCR can make several copies without the use of traditional carbon paper.

This is made possible because NCR paper has a coating of dye in the back side of every preceding page. The pressure applied to the paper when writing on it makes the dye print out an impression onto the succeeding page. Handling carbon paper would often result to stains on the hands of those using them. This does not happen with NCR paper. Since the forms can be properly bound by glues or staples there is also minimal chance that the forms get misaligned resulting to flaws in some of the copies.

NCR forms can make up to 5 individual copies. This is needed for receipts, invoices, and several other business forms. Carbon copies are created without the usual hassle.

Using carbon paper was always a bit of a bother for most people. You had to insert carbon paper between each page that you needed to make a copy of. If several copies are needed, inserting the carbon between each copy and maintaining alignment so that everything gets copied was quite difficult. Handling carbon paper would stain the hands of the user and when he handles the copies, they would get smudged. The entire process of using carbon paper was thus quite a tedious task.

Forms printed on NCR paper can also be customized to your preferences and needs. Logos can easily be printed and sequenced numbering is also possible. All one has to do is specify to the printer what your requirements are and they can input them into the form.

Some forms require that each copy be of a different color paper. NCR paper comes in several different colors. This allows for color coding with a particular color going to a specific recipient. Invoices and receipts normally require this sort of segmentation.

Carbonless printing allows you convenience and ease when making carbon copies of different documents. It is neat and clean and your forms and their copies are always presentable. All the data on the form are aligned to the area where they are supposed to be. There is a low likelihood that the copies are misaligned. Several printers can offer this option and can print custom designed forms based on your requirements.
