Everyone around the world has some connection to Scotland whether they were educated here in Glasgow or have relatives who have since moved away. No matter the reason everyone appears to love coming over to visit the countryside and perhaps take in a few rounds of golf while they are over here on vacation.
In August each year there is a ceremony celebrating the arts in the capital city Edinburgh called the Fringe. Lots of actors head here to get their name known or return to give thanks to the festival for making them famous. During August there is a festival held at the city's castle called the Edinburgh Tattoo which showcases the world's bag pipers and ends with a firework display at the end of August.
Most visitors who come here often wish to visit the castle which is set on the hill just above Princess Gardens. There is a lot of interesting facts and history attached to the castle including all the information on Mary Queen of Scots and St Margaret's Chapel and not forgetting the Stone of Destiny and all the history including the recent history of the stone's disappearance.
Heading over to Stirling visitors can view the lovely countryside which covers the Bannock Battle down at the burn or by visiting any of the Robert the Bruce's centres you will be taken back in time to the battles he fought against the English.
Heading away from the cities and driving north into the Highlands you can visit the likes of Loch Lomond or Loch Ness and even the city of Inverness. A short drive from here you will find the solemn place of Culloden in which the English defeated the Scots in 1746.
There are many other cities and towns in the countryside which are worth visiting they include Glasgow, Perth and and perhaps St Andrew's for golf. You will not be far from any of them after flying into the country and then head over to them on your rental car.
